Frequently asked questions

About Brew Fitness

What is Brew Fitness?

Brew Fitness is a Canadian partnership agency that helps craft breweries fill slow taproom hours with fitness sessions, and helps fitness coaches earn from ticketed events at those breweries. The public community is for adults, and any drink after a workout is optional.

Is Brew Fitness a gym or a brewery?

Neither. We don’t run a gym and we don’t make or sell alcohol. We connect breweries and coaches, plan the sessions with them, and promote those sessions to the public.

Can teenagers join Brew Fitness sessions?

No. Brew Fitness is for adults of legal drinking age in their province or territory: 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, and 19 elsewhere.

Where does Brew Fitness operate?

Everywhere in Canada, in English and French. We are based in Edmonton, Alberta, and sign founding partner breweries and coaches city by city in every province and territory. Each province page shows its legal drinking age and local rules.

Do the rules change from province to province?

Yes. The legal drinking age is 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec and 19 elsewhere, and each province and territory sets its own alcohol advertising rules. Some northern and First Nations communities restrict or prohibit alcohol; sessions there are alcohol-free.

For breweries

How can a craft brewery increase weekday afternoon revenue?

Program the slow hours. Breweries lift weekday traffic with recurring events such as run clubs, taproom yoga, trivia and food trucks. Brew Fitness books vetted coaches into Tuesday-to-Thursday slots, promotes each session and handles the compliance work.

Can a Canadian brewery host fitness classes and advertise them?

Generally yes, with care. Every province and territory restricts alcohol advertising that encourages irresponsible drinking, appeals to minors or implies health benefits, and Quebec requires preclearance by the RACJ. Brew Fitness writes every session and post to the local rules. Confirm your licence specifics with your regulator before launching.

How can a brewery partner with fitness influencers without hurting its brand?

Set guardrails first: no drinking during workouts, no health claims, no dares, and only coaches whose audiences are adults. Brew Fitness vets every coach and the brewery approves each post, so the brewery stays craft-first and the workout stays the headline.

Do people have to drink to come to a session?

No. The workout is the point and any drink afterwards is optional. Every partner brewery offers non-alcoholic options, and nobody is pressured to order alcohol.

What does it cost a brewery?

It depends on how many sessions you want and what we run for you. We quote after a short call, and founding partners in Edmonton get founding rates. You will know the full cost before you agree to anything.

For coaches

How can a personal trainer earn from group events without renting a studio?

Partner with a venue that wants your crowd. Breweries have empty weekday space; coaches have the class. Brew Fitness matches Canadian coaches with partner taprooms and promotes the sessions, so trainers can run paid groups without studio rent or a lease.

Who sets the price of a session?

You and us together, before the session is announced. We look at the format, length, group size and what similar sessions charge locally, then agree the price and the split in writing.

Why do you ask about my audience’s age?

Canadian alcohol advertising rules bar endorsements by people likely to be role models for minors. Breweries need to know their partners’ audiences are adults, so we ask up front.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. You need professional liability insurance that covers group sessions at third-party venues, and participants sign a waiver. Our operations checklist covers the details.
