Partnering with breweries, safely
A brewery partnership can give you a venue, a crowd and local credibility. It can also cost you trust if it looks like you’re selling beer to your clients. These rules keep you on the right side of both your audience and Canadian advertising rules.
What you can say
- Where and when the session is, and what the workout involves.
- That the group gathers at the brewery afterwards, and non-alcoholic options are available.
- That the brewery is a great host or a great space.
What you shouldn’t say
- That beer helps recovery, performance or health.
- That drinking contributed to your results or success.
- Anything that dares or pushes people to drink, or celebrates more than one.
If your audience includes teenagers
Canada’s alcohol advertising code bars endorsements by people who are likely to be role models for minors. If a large share of your followers are under 18, brewery partnerships aren’t a fit for your brand, and we’ll tell you so.
